Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist

Commetric provides media analytics solutions that help communication and marketing professionals monitor and analyse conversations and content on social and conventional media. Unlike many online tools, Commetric combines Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and expert human insight to enable clients across industry sectors realise the full potential of their media research investments.

Our client work has been recognised by a number of industry award bodies such as The Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) and the Holmes Report (PRovoke), and has won multiple international awards, most recently the “Best in Marketing Technology” In2 SABRE Award EMEA 2020.

We are now looking for a Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist to support our dynamic and fascinating Machine Learning transformation programme.

Your responsibilities will include creating machine learning models and retraining systems, studying and transforming prototypes, researching and implementing ML algorithms and tools, and running ML tests and experiments. You will need exceptional skills in statistics and programming, as well as a good knowledge of data science and software engineering.

 

As a Machine Learning Engineer/Data Scientist, you will:

  • Design and develop machine learning and deep learning systems to create intelligent software applications or microservices for internal tools and processes

  • Design and run machine learning tests and experiments
  • Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results
  • Implement appropriate machine learning algorithms for Natural Language Processing, Natural Language Generation, and Natural Language Understanding
  • Work with the software engineering team to develop machine learning applications according to requirements• Train and re-train systems when necessary
  • Extend existing ML libraries and frameworks

 

The ideal candidate’s Experience & Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in computer science, statistics, computational linguistics, or other quantitative fields
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist developing and deploying machine learning models and NLP based solutions
  • Good understanding of data structures, data modelling and software architecture
  • Ability to write robust code in Python and R
  • Experience with NLP problems such as part-of-speech tagging, topic modelling, named entity recognition, and summarization
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries including NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Scikit-Learn, NLTK, SpaCy, TensorFlow, Keras
  • Experience working with RESTful API and microservice oriented architectures
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm, and a love for teaching and learning
  • Ability to work efficiently both within a team and independently, in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, able to learn independently, exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Fluency in English

 

Nice to Have

  • Github Account with showcased work/samples/contributions is a strong plus
  • Knowledge in architecting/operating solutions and security frameworks built on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus
  • Experience using Docker
  • Experience with asynchronous task management architectures (I.e. Celery, Redis)
  • Skills in data exploration, visualization, and cleaning
